Skachill Racing Wins Third Suzuki Tri Series Title
2011-12-27
I am proud to announce that the Skachill Racing team secured the third Suzuki Tri Series title in a row.
This is a great achievement for myself and also to my team and sponsors that have helped and supported me along the way.
It was a tough series with both Jaden Hassan and Dennis Charlett pushing me along the whole way making for some great racing.
I am thoroughly looking forward to the racing to come when the NZSBK Championship kicks off in just over a weeks time at Ruapuna Raceway.
Here is some video from the final round at Wanganui

Skachill Racing at VMCC Round 5
2011-09-25
Hi all,
The weather is almost at a point where it is playing the game and is letting us get on the track in some half reasonable conditions which is great as it means we are getting closer to summer which means closer to the start of the summer season!
I attended the 5th round of the VMCC winter series and had my second ride on the new Suzuki GSX-R600L1 which was great and even after almost three months since last swinging a leg over a road race bike I felt right at home and qualified 1st in Formula 2 and 4th in Formula 1.
Race one of F2 was good with a very good start and lead the whole race and posted a best time of 1:08.9 which was respectable given the circumstances.
Race one of F1 was again a great start from 4th on the grid taking the holeshot to turn one in front of Scott Moir, Sloan Frost and Craig Shirriffs. It was spitting slightly and I decided to take it easy, then letting both Scott and Craig through coming into turn 6. I followed them around for a few laps by then the drizzle had stopped so I decided to make a pass on Scott moving back into second. By this stage Craig had pulled a considerable gap and I couldn't match the pace of the Suzuki Superbike rider so settled for a second position and best lap of 1:08.5 which I was happy with.
After lunch the rain came and spoiled the day and not having any wets I decided to call it a day and park the bike. It was good to watch some great racing in the two classes premier classes.
Over a good day and glad to be back on the bike. Now planning on doing some testing between now and the next round which is at Taupo raceway in 6 weeks time.
Cheers

Skachill Racing Prepares for 2011/2012 Season
2011-08-01
These winter months aren't so great for motorcycle racing, so I have been mostly absent from the race tracks recently but never fear we will be back soon and on a new bike.
For the 2011/2012 season we will be competing on Suzuki's brand new 600cc Supersport, the GSX-R600L1
So far we have had two days testing on the bike and results are instantly showing by going nearly half a second under the lap record at Manfeild Raceway. This is a great step forward and is only one of the exciting news for the 2011/2012 season.
Keep an eye out as more updates will be released soon!

NZSBK Round 2, Teretonga Raceway - Qualifying
2011-02-05
Hey all,
Well first day practice and qualifying has come and gone, we made great progress on the bike and set the 3rd fastest time for the weekend in the 600ss class with a 1:00.2 laptime with is already over half a second faster than what I was doing last year.
Qualifying was a hard one with the rain starting to come down and I wasn't prepared to risk it and put it all on the line so was happy to take 4th position on the grid with a 1:00.6 which is a bit off the best I can do.
Looks like the races tomorrow are going to be wet, so I will pack the water wings tomorrow!

NZSBK Round 1 - Levels Raceway, Timaru
2011-01-31
Hi everyone!
Just like that the first round of the NZSBK championship has come and gone, but not without some excitement along the way! From Friday practice it was looking like we were going to be in a strong position to get some good results, and I have to say thank you to my main man Hamish from Darbi Accessories and also Robert Taylor from CKT for their huge efforts this weekend in getting the bike where it needs to be to turn a good lap time!
We were struggling a little bit with tyre life at this track, which is the same issue we had last year, which was going to give us a bit a of a challenge for sure.
Qualifying
Qualifying went well and like I had done all weekend long I dropped another half second for the session but wasn't quite enough to get me on pole with Dennis piping me by 0.1 of a second and John Ross by 0.4
Race One
In the first race I got a great start and lead the opening laps, Dennis passed me down the back straight but I passed him back quickly. As the laps went on Dennis and I battled away with John Ross following closely. By Lap 7 I knew I was in a bit of trouble as my rear tyre was starting to go away a bit faster than the other guys and I was quickly losing the ability to get a good drive onto the front straight. I started riding the front tyre very hard into turns to try make up for the rear and maintain a good lap time, but I pushed just that little bit too hard and had a very slow lay down at the hair pin. Not quite what I had planned but I picked the bike up quickly (some say I was still sliding as I picked it up!) I rejoined the race in 4th place and went to work chasing third down. I followed Jeremy Holmes who was in third and racing very well until the last lap until I saw my opportunity open up with some lap traffic and took the position.
So and interesting race with a crash and still a podium finish! I was happy with gaining third and knew even without my crash I wouldn't have been able to maintain the lap speed for the entire race would have to give away my position to John Ross.
Race Two
We opted for a harder compound tyre for the second race in hope that it would still be working well towards the end of a race and I would be able to mix it up with the guys out front at then end of the race. However it would appear that was not going to work as the tyre struggled to match the grip of the guys out front at the beginning of the race and I still found my tyre going off towards the end of the race so I couldn't make up the gap. I finished in 5th place and now sit in 4th place for the weekend.
Its not the perfect start to the season but Levels Raceway is definitely the track I struggle with the most so I am happy as to be mixing it with Dennis and John and the lap times were fast!
I wish to thank all my loyal sponsors, without them I simply would not be here this weekend!
